Q&A With Danny
What does your role at Royalty Solutions look like day-to-day?
One of the things I enjoy most about my role is how much variety there is in my day-to-day. Some days I’m registering new works with performance or mechanical rights organizations, while others I’m updating metadata, resolving conflicts, or coordinating with international partners to make sure everything is accurate. I like that the work keeps me on my toes and gives me the chance to support songwriters by ensuring their music is properly credited and protected.
Can you share a little about your background before joining RSC? What led you to pursue a career in music industry and what do you enjoy most about it?
Before joining Royalty Solutions, I worked at Hipgnosis Songs Group, where I got to help manage catalogs for artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Charlie Puth, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I also spent time interning in sync licensing and music analysis, which gave me a great introduction to different corners of the industry. I studied Music Business and Vocal Performance at Berklee College of Music, and I’ve always loved being around music in any form. What I enjoy most about the industry is how every project connects me to new artists, songs, and stories. It keeps the work exciting and meaningful.
Can you share an example of how RSC has successfully helped an artist, publishing company or label achieve their goals?
RSC helps artists all over the world everyday through our many services and TuneLicensing website. We provide important and necessary assistance in guiding artists all over the world through their cover song releases and distribution, allowing them to better focus on their art and music.
What first sparked your passion for music?
I grew up as a theater kid, so I’ve always loved the energy and fun that music brings. I’ve also always been drawn to charts, graphs, and organized information. Music publishing is the perfect mix of both because I get to work with songs while putting my love of data and detail to use.
Do you have a go-to playlist or song that keeps you motivated during the workday?
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of soul and funk to keep me motivated during the day. Artists like Jalen Ngonda and Thee Sacred Souls have been on repeat for me, and their energy makes for the perfect soundtrack to get through a busy workday. There’s something about the groove and warmth in it that always helps me stay focused and upbeat.
Danny sums up his approach best:
“Music publishing is the perfect mix of my love for music and my passion for data, detail, and organization.”
At RSC, it’s this combination of expertise and passion that strengthens our team. We’re proud to have Danny contributing his talent and dedication, and we look forward to all that he will continue to accomplish with us!
